About three miles of the jetty are finished at Astoria, and work has shut down for want of funds. They will have to await anotbei appropriation from congress. The 6teamer State of California, which was overdue at Portland.and was thought to have been wrecked, arrived Friday. She broke her rudder, which occasioned the de lay. On la&t Saturday, while out hunting near Junction, Frank Mc j Fadden, son of G. W. McFaddeii, of Curvallis, was accidentally shot in the foot by a companion. Latest reports announce that it will prob ably be necesary to amputate the member, which is to be very much regretted. The boy is but 115 years of age.
