The action of the inspectoi of

forbidden her to go to sea, bat
afterwards countermanded the

of at least nine persons.

For the Holidays.
The year 1S85) has been a most
prosperous one for Albany, and the
coming holiday season will be ob
served in a most generous and fit
ting fashion. With their usual en
terprise -Messrs. Foshay & Mason j
have opened lor thi3 i eason s holi
day trade a iarger stock than ever
before. Their large and well regu
lated store is crammed to its fullest
capacity with the most elegant and
varied stock of holiday goods that
was ever brought to this place.
People like to have an elegant and
ample vanotv of good to select
from, and most certainly thev have
in trie siock mat tnese gentlemen
now displ ty, as elegant an assort
ment and as immense a display as
they could possibly wish for. It is
needless to enter into retails, for
any description, or enumeration
would be tame and insipid, in com
parison with the actual pleasure of
vifiling their estahlihmenl and
viewing tho useful and beau
tiful articles otfered in their
holiday trade. No one should
should fail to take a li-i,k even if
they do not wish to purchase.
Certainly, however, every one can
find articles there that will come
within the scope of their purse
string?, no matter how narrow they
may oe contracted, and the verv
Creosus' themselves can find arti
cles elegant and eostlv enough to
satisfy the plethoric of their pocket
hooks, so varied and well chosen is
their stock. Chri.-tuias joys must
of course have presents ami toys,
so go carU' and select before the

Meet the Public Want
One of the most extensive and
elegantly stocked establishments
in the Willamette valley is to be
found in the Golden Role Bazaar
Btore of Julius Gradwohl in this
city. In order to accommodate his
many customers he is in the field
early this yea', and has already
commenced receiving his immense
line of beautiful goods for the fall
ami winter and for the holidays,
and has one of the most gorgeous
and dazzling displays to be seen in
any Golden Rule Bazaar in Oregon.
The line carried comprises a be
wildering assortment of fine china,
queensware and glassware of the
latest styles and most delicate de
signs, lhe beautuul china and
glassware, together with the dec
orated and fancy wares, nove'ties,
elegant stand and hanging lamps,
toys, boys' wagons and general
bazaar goods, present a scene well
worth out s time to visit.
Here may be found a complete
line of table cutlerv of the cele-
i orate I makes, Roger Bros.' silver
and silver plated goods and
Bohemian wares of every variety,
while his stock of dolls, toys, toilet
and fancy goods, in . plush and
silver, and novelties for the chil
dren wilt be larger f'an ever be
fore. Mr. Gradwohl has enlarged
his slock in such a replete manner
that his Golden Rule Bazaar is not
only a credit to the city of Albany
but to the entire Willamette
valley, being one of the most ex
tensive establishments of the kind
in Oregon. The most important
feature to purchasers is in prices,
and when we assert that, his prices
are as low as any house in the state
and that his goods are sold at
figures that cannot be equaled in
the Northwest, it is but the recital
of an absolute fact. It will be to
the interests of the country mer
chants to purchase their holiday j
goods from this establishment, and j
orders should he sent in at once, i
Mr. Gradwohl has long since I
proven his adaptability to thisj
business, and it is taking no rise i
to say that this emporium of elegant j
fane v and decoiative ware is the i
ire . tomplete in the Willamette !
