tion, 'said that he looked forward

peace. This he believed would

opinion a guarantee of peace was
not only to be found in the
monanrhial ancestors of the coun
try, bat also in a special degree in
the monarchial sentiments of the
German people.

preparing the Adams. Iroquois and
J'ensacolii for sea. The Iroquois is
at Mare Island, California, and ran

month's work will make her ready.
The department has not yet de
cided where the vessels will be
sent, but they will be available for
service in Samoa if it should be
come necessary for their presence

hour this morning the wind began

west, and increased to a gale. At
10:30 Jesse Finch, a lad aged 18,
started in a fishing boat to sail to
Eagle harbor. When opposite Du-
wamish head, two and a half miles
away, his baat was capsized and
Finch drawaed.
