EDITORIAL NOTES.
The dispatches say that a cyclone
in Samoan waters, destroyed the
three American war vessels Tren
ton, Vandalia and Nipsic ; and the
four German essels Adler, Glga,
Eber and another, with the loss of
nearly fifty American and one hun
dred Germans. It seems that the
very elements conspire to make
sensational items fiom Samoa.
The scheme of increasing the
baiaries of congressmen is beintj
promptly set down upon all over
the country. These eastern con
gressmen who are dissatisfied with
the present salaries, should all re
sign and go home. There are
plenty of men just as capable who
will serve without a repetition of
the salary grab of 1871.
