Assessment and taxation bill in troducjd by jomt -committee on assessnient and taxation was taken up as a special order; jiost (toned till to-monow night at t :.Rl. Veto of the governor of Dawson's bill creating railroad comuiiio:) was read. The senate then proceeded to vote, the question being shoul 1 thi bill pass, notwithstanding th veto of the governor. The (te .stood 22 to 8 in favor of the bill. Waer moved that a thousand copied of the governor's veto be printed for use of the senate; amended by atts adding for jiolitieal purposes;-lost. S. C. R. by Gray that a com -mittee be appointed on assessment and taxation to offer live amend ments to the existing assessment law ; laid on the table. Communication from the state superintendent of public instruc tion recommending that the legis lature pass a resolution recom mending that the ways and means committee make an appropriation so that the state may be properly representee! at the National Edu cational Association held at Nash ville, Tenn., July 16, 17, 18, 19, 1889.
