sented a project, the principal
teature oi wtiicii is tlie building of
a north mid-tide jetty, extending
from the north head along and be
hind the reef for a distance of 2:00
feet, leaving an entrance width of
about 1000 feet. The project alio
proposrs to raise the south jetty to
lull high water mark, which by his
estimates will require "'0,Ui)0 tons
of stone. The width of the en
trance proposed that oi 1000 leet,
fulfills two essential conditions, i
namely, it corresponds lanly to
interior widths near the mouth
and it gives reasonable facility to
vessels seeking entrance. It is
not, however, expected that the
ship channel, between the jetties,
will be wider than the inferior
j channel, which is :;bo;.t fv"0 teet."
j Ut the several projects pruseiu. u,
the board decided that this was the
most practicable, and accordingly
reported in lavor of its adoption.
The estimated cost of tnis new jet
ty is $!l,ouO. Preparatory work
has iheady been started on this
new jetty.
The board also presented an esti
mate oi completing the south jetty,
now in course of construction, at.
