Salem were introduced to the con
vention ; each one of them had
warm words o' encouragement for
the ladies, and pledged their as
sistance in the work of the tempei
ance reform. A hearty vote of
thanks was tendered the gentle
men. The evening session was well
attended. A well prepared and
very superior paper, on Narcotics,
written by Mrs. H. A. Newell o!
Salem, was read by Mrs. R. .
Wallace of the Salem union. Ful
lowing this came an address by
Rev. J. W. Webb, of Salem. In
part of his remarks were a con
densed statement of the hues !
