.4 Series or Accident.
The Pendleton East Oregonian
says: Mrs. Major Brockenbrough
and daughter left Pendleton last
Saturday for Washington via t the
Northern Pacific railroad. Major
Brockenbrough received a letter from
his w-ife stjtia.' that owing to a freight
train's sin.isli up her train was de
tained at Heron Siding, and possibly
would remain there twenty-four
hours. The next day another letter
came stating that the train had suc
ceeded 111 getting arouud the wreck
within twelve hours, but another
more serious accident has just hap
pened .on this side of Bozeman,
Montana. A freight train collided
with their train on Mondav morniu2
early, throwing the passengers from
their berths aud injuring some of
them severely. Mrs. Brockenbrough
writes that she received a painful and
severe cut on the forehead, about
inch aud a half long and to the bone,
though it was not serious. Some of
the passengers were worse injured.
The little daughter escaped without
any injuries at all. The Major is in
receipt of another letter from Mrs.
Brockenbrough saying still another
accicent had happened. A lo-nd slide
had iust occurred a head of theirv
train, which would detain them some
time. Here is a series of accidents
that seldom hannens to one train.

watched with so much terror, occur

ing. A car of powder on the freight
train exploded, cotupiotcly wrecking
both trains and instantly killing ten
persons and wounding many more.
