Mrs. Conkling and Mrs. Oakman were knet'lint; at the bedside of Iloscoe Conkling v.heri lie died. Mrs. Conkling had her hand elaped in his. Another fact is that no leading Mormons have been in terviewed' and further, that neither Mormon pulpit nor press has con demned a single remaik made by either speaker at this last confer ence. The facts in the case, as elic it"d bv a reporter to-day. and of ! which he has undeniable proof, is that the dispa ci was written at Mormon headquarters in tbis city, and designed lor consumption abroad, being a willful perversion of the truth from beginning to end. The dispatch was held in abeyance oy ine eastern Associated Press officials for some time, and it is believed here that only the in fluence of Caine and the Mormon lobby at Washington ever caused it to be made public . WELL KNOWS IK OKECOX. - Gold Hill, April 17. Residents of this vicinity were pained to learn of the tragic shoot iog of C. D. Failing in San Fran cisco last Sunday, by bis wife, as given in the dispatches. The Mrs. Cawley mentioned in connection with the affair was formely Miss Affie Colvig, daughter of Dr. Colvig of Rock Point, three miles west of this place.
