Salvationists, who were Discharged.
In the case of the city against
two members of the Salvation
Army, arrested for refusing to obey
the order of the city marshal not
to stop on the street, Recorder
Henton rendered a decision yester
day, discharging the defendants.
The court held that the pro
visions of the ordinance under
which the arrests were made con
flicted with the constitution of the
state, which grants every citizen
the right to worship according to
the dictates of his own conscience ;
also that it was not shown in the
evidence that an obstruction . was
created at the time the arrests
were made. The court further
held that if such an obstruction
was made and it was shown in
the evidence that the parties ar-

To Prepare a History of the Oregon Indian
Wars Thanks to Senator Dolph.
Multnomah Camp, No. 2, Indian
War Veterans, North Pacific coast,
held a special meeting on Saturday.
After roll call, reading of minutes
of the last meeting and some other
ordinary routine business, the
following reso.utions were adopted :
Whereas. In the settlement of
the Pacific Northwest by white
people, besides great hardships and
privations endured by them, they
were involved in difficulties and
wars with the native tribes of
Indians: aud
Whereas, A correct statement
of these difficulties and wars is
much needed in a correct history
of the Pacific Northwest: therefore
Resolved, Tlmt the captain of
this camp is hereby directed to
designate two persons who shall,
with the captain of tins cainp,
constitute a committee whose duty
it shall he to arrange and prepare
for publication by this camp, a
correct history of the relations,
contests and wars l.etween the
white settlors oi' t!ie Pacific North
west and the native tribes of In
dians; that such committee may
receive such aid as may be tender
ed them, and ma secure the
services of such persons as they
may deem advisable, and it shall
be the duty of such committee to
report to tL is camp all their doings
in the premises, at least once in
every three months, and to turn
over to this camp, as fust as pre
pared, all manuscripts for such
