The county jail now has nine
occupants. It has been several
rears since that large a number of

serve order at the Salvation army
gatherings; that is for those who
do not like the Salvationists to let
them severely alone. If the hood
lums, who are a large factor in
making the disturbance, would also
"'move on" the question of pre
venting obstruction to the streets

Convocation Services.
There will be no services in the
Episcopal church next Sunday,
March 4th. the usual services
being postponed until March 11th.

will be held on Wednesday, Thurs

Rev. T. L. Sails died at 2 o'clock
Sunday morning at McMinnville.
He was conscious almost tothe
last moment. Memorial services
were held there at 2 o'clock Mon
day afternoon. The funeral will
be held at East Portland to-day at
11 A.M.

Archbishop W. II. Gross, D. D.,
of Portland, will lecture in the
Catholic church in the city on
Match 4th at 7 p. si. on the subject
of "Family and Society." The

Saturday on being informed that
the Oregon Pacific authorities, on
application of R. A. Irvine, had
ollered a chance for a ride on their
construction train to Munkers on
the other side of the Santiam river
and that Scio Grange held their
installation of officers

others, took advantage of the occa
sion and accepted a place in the
caboose of the construction train.
A ride of half an hour brought us
to our destination, on the prairie
about two miles from Scio, where
the railroad company has con
structed a fine elevator warehouse,
und in as fine a porrion of the
country as the sun shines upon.

The annual county teachers in
stitute for Linn county Oregon will
be held at Albany commencing on
