A special meeting of the city
council washeld last night to con
sider the proposition ot 2'. H. Al
ien to furnish the city with elec
tric lights. His proposition to fur
nish an all night service at $12 50
per month for 2000 candle art
lights was accepted, and it was
decided to take six of such lights,
and one smaller one to be located
as follows :

City Marshal Hays had a force
of men at work yesterday doing a
much needed job of cleaning
streets. The dirt and debris col

Two vagrants wiio are serving a
term in the city jail were also put
to work to a good advantage. This
is a move in the right direction,
and if extended to every alley
way in the city it will beautifully
lessen the danger of disease next
summer.
