Something About the Play Nanon, " to be
Presented by the Pyke Opera Co.
The Pvke Opera Company, with !
Jeannie Winston and the old favor
ite stars ot this popular company,
will be in Albany next week for
two evenings. Referring to the
play "Nanon" the Helena ' Inde
pendent says :
After one has seen Nanon it be
comes no wonder to note the fact
that the play has scored prolonged
and unprecedented runs in the
large cities , f the East. And prop
er it is that it should be successful.
It is certainly one of the most
catchy pieces 6n the musical stage
a veritable menu of melodv an
opera most entrancing and enter
taining from beginning to the close.
Beautiful scenery, striking situa
tions and gorgeous costuming are
but a few of the features of the per
formance as given by the Pyke
Opera Company, to say nothing of
the bewitching airs abounding in
the play. Briefly described the
plot is as follows :
The lovely Nanon, hostess of the
Golden' Lamb, is to be wed to the

who are bent on seeing the sights
of Paris and all the splendor that
the term implies. Nanon goes to
Ninon de L'Enclos, the famous
beauty, to bring her to intercede
in behalf of her drummer, and finds
her drummer is Ninon's. A famous'
waltz melody runs through the
whole opera, and is sung by every
body of any consequence from the
tenor to the basso, not to mention
the struggles of the comedian.
Mdtne. de Maintenon and King

Miss Manfred,-as usual, was ad

and as the roguish Nanon secured
applause unbounded. The "laissez

personifications are quite notice
able, and the chic and vivacity
displayed signify surely that she
enters heart and soul into rendit-
