A briet examination of the work

that place oi business to be in a
very prosperious condition under
the management of our present
postmaster Kufus Thompson.
During the last two weeks in Dec
ember over 0000 stamps were sold

ed the high number of 30,000 which
was 5000 more than was ever be
foie ordered at one time. All the
remainder of his order was corres
pondingly increase!1, s'lowing a
large increase in the amount of
business done. There is on an
average about 1000 letters received
and distributed dailv, besides an
I almost endless number of papers,
i magazines, etc., etc. Is it anv
wonder that occasionally a mis
take is made in this or any other
office ?
Another surprise to us was the
fact that so many of the business
men will come to the office two and
j three times a day for their mail and
take their turn at. the genera! di -
