Dated thia 2nd day o f June, 191.1. H E R B E R T KAKIN, juncfi-julyS Administrator. Sound Doctrine. Eugene Register; The Register fully agrees with Mr. Porter of Walker, who is quoted elsewhere in thia issue, when he says; " I t seems to me that on every point that cornea up for the good of some town or city in our terri tory we should all join hands. What helps Walker also helps Cottage Grove, and what help* Cottage Grove in some degree helps Walker, and what helps • reswell helps both of us, ao what reason is there except that of petty jealousy Ui keep us from joining hands on every proposition that comes up for the good of any one of ua.” Mr. Porter is exactly right. What benefits one part of the Willamette valley benefits in some degree every other part. In helping some other town or some other community, we are indirectly helping ourselves, for we are all working to a rm ra o n end— the further development of the coun try. In some parts nf the state the feel ing between different communities is hitter, and there are incersant fac tional quarrels that hinder progress and stay development. Fortunately, this is not true of the Willamette valley; and the fact goes far toward explaining the enviable prosperity of this section.
