. V Gravelford Items. Geo Francis Train Dead. Delightful weather. An occasional violet and spring- flower gives proof of the mildness of our climate and of the approach of spring. D. P. Strang, Jr., of Fishtrap, made this place a brief visit on Thursday. The members of Mr. J. D. Ben nett’s family, who have been ill of typhoid fever, have nearly all re covered. Prof. R. W. Airey of our villa has been employed to teach the Hermann school on South Fork. Mr. J. D. Bennett had the mis fortune to run a nail into bis foot the other day. This will lay him up for a while. The Gravelford Academy is do ing a high grade of word. The at tendance is good and, judging from what the young people and their parents say, this school must rank among the best in the state for thoroughness, and excellence of method. Miss Nettie King, of Bridge, and Missos Vivian, LeeAnna and Gladys Gage are attending the Academy at this place. The infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mereen died last Friday morn- ing at Myrtle Point where they had taken it for medical treatment. The steamer, “J. Warren,” brought the bereaved parents and the re mains of their little one to Gravel ford Friday evening. The funeral wns held in the Academy at 11 a. m., Saturday. The services were conducted by Elder W. L. Black of Myrtle Point. The precious jewel encased in its little casket was then laid away to rest in the Gravelford cemetery. New York, Jan. 18.— George Francis Train died tonight from heart disease at Mills Hotel No, 1, where he has lived for some years. The fatal Btroke followed an attack of acute nephritis. ffUQUWf (fitlj StetRlfl. P U B L IS H E D E V E R Y T U E S D A Y O- F- DEAN, EDITOR AND PROPRIETOR Countv Official Paper.
