Mr. Paxson tb uking there had some stock broken into the orchard, hiss ed the dogs in that direction and followed as rapidly as he could. When near the tree the chap in question dropped from the tree and lit out while the dogs gave chase but were unable to keep auywhere near him, and when the fence was reach ed he went over “ all same deer.” Mr. Paxson says he will put up a good share of a large purse if he will come in and enter for the races. Stewart Lyons returned from his business trip to Portland last week, bringing a fine, large engine for the Lyons sawmill at this place. This is a fine piece of machinery, he selecting the heaviest, one of its size he could find. This engine will develop about 125 horse power without crowding, • and having nothing to run except the main cir culars, will he able to turn out lum ber at a much more lively rate than they have ever done before.
