band in the Hoard of Trade ques
tion. It is a subject which has
frequently been stirred up in these
coliims. All live cities hive organ
izations of this kind and unless we
expect to perish of a <lrv rot we
should have one also. The neces
sity for it does not admit of an ar
gument and the longer the matter
is delayed the farther in the rear
we shall be in all those substantial
things which i uild cities, improve
a country and put people on a level
with their wide awake progressive
neighbors As has been repeatedly

Thousands of new settlors are com
ing west this spring nnd many are
already in Oregon but we do not
see any of them in Coquille because

part of the state for the betterment
of mankind. We want more ranchers
and dairymen, more lumbermen,
