He accordingly secured i auother horse, and iu attempting to swim it across a deep ravine, the ; horse became entangled in a wire j or post fence nud Mr. Schiuz was thrown off into the water, the horse then swimming back to shore. Mr. Scbinz was said to be an ex cellent swimmer, hut in some way he was disabled, or seized with crntnps, aud his wife, who was the solo witness of the affuir, realizing that her husband was drowuing, threw off part o f her clothing and being a goad swimmer heroically plunged into the cold water and went to his assistance but reached him just as he made hie last strug- nnd sank. Mr. S c b iD Z was a sober, indue, trious youug man about 28 or 30 years old aod was held in the high est esteem by all. He came to this country about three years ago from Switzerland and entered into part nership with Fred Moser, the Gravel Ford creamery man and cheese manufacturer. About one year later Mr. Schiuz was married and sno u dissolved partnership with Mr. Moser to engage iu farm ing nnd dairying. A wife and oue small child survive him.
