ple trees in his orchard here are won
derfully vigorous.

set out in ’72 measuring 40 inches
in circumference has produced
over 20 boxes of choice fruit, and
10 Baldwins, half of them 8 to 10
years old, 200 boxes in a single sea
son. There, was much more fruit
on the trees, but the best only was
marketed.
E. H. Byers, from Stark county,
O., owner of a fiue stock-farm near
Sumner, 1ms about 70 head of cattle,
mostly grade Shorthorns from stock
imported from the Buckeye state.
Mr. Byers has a hobby and that is
bees, of which he has GO stunds.
He might have had many more
swarms, but he practises hnck-
swanuiug, as he prefers a few big,
strong colonies to a largo number
