Heveral teports have been published, one that while in this county and possessed of n con siderable amount of the firm's funds, he was in company of a aus picie us character and might have been gotten away with Another represented him having been seen iu Portland in a demented condition. The firm exhibited much anxiety concerning him, at the same time urging that he had certainly met with foul play; that he stood well with the firm in bis accounts and nothing was known to bo wrong in his transactions; but as tbe days go by, it seems be had other irons in the fire and tbe latest phase of the caee is stated thus in a telegraphic dispatch from San Francisco: San Francisco, Oct. 3.— John Wolf, of the firm of Wolf, Weeden & Co., who has been missing for several days, is now charged with embezzlement Today JudgeTroutt, upon a showing of what appears to be sufficient facts, ordered W olf re moved aa executor of tbe estate of Sarah Pierson. Mrs. Pierson died some time ago leaving an estate of about $15,000 of which it is charged that Wolf, as executor, has since embezzled about $9000 in money and bonds which were on deposit in a local baok. The expose is the result of an investigation instituted about a week ago, just after W olf disappeared. The securities which W olf was supposed to hold iu cus tody were found to be missing, and the heirs of Mrs. Pierson today brought the matter to the attention of the court, with the results above stated. About the time W olf dis appeared bis interest in the firm of which he is a member was attached. His friends are inclined to believe that his absence is due to foul play, and that some mistake exists as re gards the alleged embezzlement of tbe Pierson estate fund. an u facture The following named were at- teudanta at the late teachers’ insti tute at Myrtle Point: State S n pt- elect J.
