Allen E. Seymour and John W. McCartuey, brokers, and John S. Shriver aud Elisha B. Edwards, correspondents, who published certain articles referring to the stignr trust, must also be present on the same date, The impression is that President Havemeyer will bo first placed ou trial, and that his case will be suc ceeded by tbat of Searles. Henry E. Davis, district attorney at Wash ington, sent notice to H. A. Ditten- lioffer, of New York, nnd Judge J . M. Wilson, of Washington, attor neys for the witnesses, advising tbe attorneys that all tbe cuses agaiusk the defendants will be called on the date named. Brother-In-Law Caused the Mess. San Francis-o, May 7.—On Fri day Jeaunotte Daisy Powell was mar ried to Dr. H. M. Thornton, a hypnotist. On Saturday her brother- in-laiv informed hor that her hus band had a wife in Chicago. Mrs. Thornton secured a bottlo of chlo roform, informed her husband that he had blighted her life, and then swallowed the poison. She won taken to the hospital, nnd a stomach pump saved her lifo. Dr. Thornton in great exeitemout visited the homo of his bride’s parents ascertain the cause of his wife’s action. When told that he was accused o f being a bigami it he fell in n cata leptic fit, and was also taken to the hospital, where he was revived.
