Coquille Lodge No.53 Enough? What builds bank buildings? In terest. Wbat builds bankers' palaces? Interest. What pays the bankers’ salaries? Interest. What pays the bankers’ dividends? Interest. What pays the banks’ expenses? Interest. W h a t is th e cause of in terest? Debt. Now are you silly enough to be lieve that bankers want a change in the financial system that will relieve the people so they may get out of debt and thus destroy the said bankers' business? Do you think the bankers want to destroy their own business? Do you think they employ lobbyists at Washington and the state capitals in the interest of the people as against themselves? As well expect a king to recommend laws curtailing his power and en larging the liberties of the people. If the people bad the blinds pulled from their eyes they would elect men who would make laws for them iustead of voting for men whom the bankers like so well. The bankers work for their own interests just as other business men. They are not so much to bo blamed. So long as the multitude remain ignor ant nnd vote ignorantly, the bankers might just as well skin them as any body. One thing is certain, some body will skin them so long as they believe in and vote for the present system. If they do not want to be fleeced by bankers, they will vote for men who want government banks and government money. Until this is done, all the power of men who p r o fit b y u s u r y w ill b e u s e d t o h a v e laws that benefit the lenders who are few against the payers who are many.
