David Landles, who tried to end his life hy stabbing himself with a pocketknife three times in tbe region o f the heart, was brought to town last week and Dr. Horsfall, attending physician, has some hopes o f his recovery though the chances are against him. Dean & Co. received information from the owners o f the steamer Blanchard that they intend to place another boat on the Portland-San Francisco route and have selected the fast steam schooner Truckee.
