A brave act, worthy of notice, lies been passed by ns till the pres ent because we bad not realized tbe merits o f the deed at a partial recital of it in our presence when we were throng and our mind on something else. It was.performed by our young friend W ill Dietz, foreman ou the West Oregonian, several days since. The occurrauce was that of Miss Lillie Dean, Miss Kinnicuttnnd MissGillhamdriving iu a buggy aoross First street from B, crossing the railroad track in front o f Dr. Leneve’s store. A logging train was coming at full speed aud the horse stopped right on the track, refusing to moye for ward or backward. At this mo ment our friend Dietz, realizing the situation, jumped from the high sidewalk, took tbe bridle in hand and forced the horse and vehicle off the track, barely escap ing tbe force o f the train nnd un doubtedly saving tbe lives o f the young ladies. It looked like a hopeless venture, but Mr. Dietz heroically assumed tbe risk nnd triumphed grandly. ------------- - «>» » —----- O r d in a n c e I f « . 2 3 .
