Johnny Manning has gone to the district fair at C-'iitral Point with a wagon load of clams, and will give the |>eople of the interior a taste of Coos county’s production. Charley T< mlimum, the supervis or of the Coaledo road district has made a good turn out on China camp bridge, that will admit of two six-horse teams passing each other. Rev. J. W. Hans Reed will commence the construction of a splendid ocean steamer for the Coquille- San Francisco trade inside of two weeks at Bandon for Capt. Harkins and others. She will be 150 feet overall, 32 beam, 7^ draft; to have twin propellers and be of good speed. Speed the day of her com pletion. T he R. R. — The surveyors on the Coos bay, Rosehurg and East ern railroad are at Gref u Point anil coming this way with all jxrssiblo dispatch. They are near enough to Coquille City that all hands board and lodge in town. The work ot cl^ariug away the logs, brush, etc., for tl e road bed is well np on the isthmus and being push ed this way. The apparatus for grading is due and will lie on hand very shortly. D ied . — At Pershbaker’s mill, near Randolph, Sept 9, 1890, Howard B., son of Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Getchell, aged four yerrs and twelve days. The fuueral took place at Coquille City on Tbuis- day. The bereaved family have the sympathy of their many friends. Mr. G. had been away fishing ou the Columbia and had just arrived at this place en route home when be was aroused from bed to be told o f the sad nows from his home. The seventh annual fair of the Southwestern Oregon Agricultural Society c l o s e d at Arago, Saturday evening after a run of three davs. The attendance was small and the interest light, owing to dull times most likely, coupled with the fact that the accotnn odntions are lim ited. Depending on the caprices of steamboats and stages to board and lodge at towns several miles from the grounds deterred many from attending.
