It is expected that in 1892, when the Great Exposition, may be held, electricity will be the motive pow’- er that will draw all the cars, both upon the elevated and surface roads. It is now asserted by the electri cian« that we are upon the greatest revolution in our methods of trans portation bf tween distant points that the world has ever seen. Steam, the slow and noisy laggard, istojb e superceded by the swift and noiseless electric force. The steam and smoke cinders that have made railroad travelling such a dis comfort will be regelated to the same oblivion with the stagecoach. Not only great changes are pre dicted in the motive power which is to draw the trains in the future, but also a revolution of railroad travelling. The ‘ bicycle track” or the track of a single rail, is now striving hard to obtain recognition. Its iuventor, Moody Boynton, claims, that when the single rail track comes into use eighty miles nn hour will be no less than the average speed of travelling. Mr. Boynton’s system has been tried on a small scale with success. But the inventor of the new fly ing machine considers all these modes of transportation as hope lessly antiquated. When his ma chine gets down to work we will tiavel two hundred miles an hour without a jolt or ’jar, and scarcely realize we are moving at all. Reliable news from the southern line of Kansas and the pasture lands of Indian territory say that the herds of native and Texas cattle which range in that territory are afflicted with Texas fever or something. A man who has just returned from that part of the countiy states that hundreds of cattle are dying in the pastures south of Arkansas city.
