Experiments are being made with refer­
ence to the manufacture of sugar, as many
of the products of our soil are extremely rich
in saccharine properties; and many are
contemplating going into the buisiness of
manufacturing oil from the peppermint
which grows here in profusion, of which as
many n3 three crops can be raised during
tho year. It is estimated that the yield of
one acre during a year, will produce at least
$5iX) worth of oil, which can be distillod at
a small expense by the planter.
