Jackson County Democratic Ticket. For Senator: JAMES D. FAY. The meeting of the Republican County Conven tion on Monday last was the signal for the assem- bling of all the sore-heads of both parties, wh hoped by concentrated pressure to break up th« Convention and nominate a fusion ticket, upon whieb the mercenary Democrats should have all the lucrative places and the Republican sore heads all the honorable ones. The Convention, however, with a manifestation of principle not often seen in that party, refused to accept the overtures of the mercenaries of both parties, who advised the Con vention to meet, elect a Central Committee and go home. After a stormy debate in caucus, it was decided to nominate a full ticket; and so far as Jackaon Comity Democratic Convention the nominee, Pursuant to a call of the Democratic County Committee, the Democratic County Conveation for Jackson county convened at the Court House, Jacksonville, May 7th, 1870, at 1 o’clock p. m. On motion, James D. Fay was elected temporary Chairman, and W. W. Fidler temporary Sec’y. On motion of H. Klippel, a oommittee of three, jonsisting of H. Klippel, G. It is a no Flounce Rock precinct. tbst ticket is concerned, we have this to say, that no matter how much we detest and execrate the principles which it represents, it is composed of tbo very best material in the Republican ranks It will assuredly be defeated, but the Republicans (unfortunately for the Democratic party of this County), will have the consolation of knowing that it is not saddled with that accursed band of political mereenaries and traitors, whose lust for the ease and emoluments of office is only equaled by its utter want of principle, political or other wise, and whose presence in any party is a con stant source of discord and dissension. As a Dem ocratic journal we regret that the Republicans did not purchase this white elephant, which they could nut have sold, or given away afterwards, and which would have bankrupted them to have kept. In view of this we have ‘SSSNHVH often wondered since that party came into power, why it has not gone after that other “twin” in the ‘saiaavs same merciless murderous fashion. It is possible that it has acquired a kind of “sneaking” affection «I for it. At any rate it handles it with remarkable H3TVEKI QNV H3HI1X3VJÎ1ÂV tenderness. It exhibits here a caution and hesi tancy that are utterly at variance with its accus ‘a'i’iiAÄOsnavr tomed headlong precepitancy. To root out slavery ‘xosaao it crushed half the nation, and now it allows the people of one petty Territory to stand up and defy it to molest polygamy.
