LOCAL INTELLIGENCE. » Religious gotici Rev. R. C. Oglesby will hold divine pervice nt the M. E. Church, to morrow, at 11 o’clock. T iie T own E lection .—Next Tueedny is the day set for the election of town officers. We recommend the following excellent ticket to the voters of Jacksonville : For Trustees, Neuman Fisher, J. R. Neil, David Linn, A. II. M artin^xnd James Wilson ; for Recorder, U. S. Hayden ; for Treasurer, Ilenry Pape ; for Marshal, Asher 'Wall; for Street Coni missioner, 1\ Fehelv. The big fight will be on the Marshalship, between Asher Wall and George Seeman. There have been unwearied efforts, on the part of Mr. Mall’s enemies, in the circulation of groundless charges, the fabrication of slanderous reports, an<l the magnifying of trifles into errors of great magnitude ; vet. we believe that those underhand plottings will have b it little influ ence upon the voters of Jacksonville ; and that our citizens will evince their good judg ment by re-electing Asher Wall, who, during two terms as Marshal, has proven himself equal to any emergency, attentive to his du ties, and ever upright atid courteous in his deportment. T he T wenty S econd —N o popular demon stration was made at thi« place, last 1 uesday. in memory of him, whose name, high above nil others, stands brightest and purest on the records of Time. Forgotten alike, is the Father of his country and his wise counsels. “Entangling Alliances” are being made from which their will be no extrication, and “Foreign Influences,’’ are beginning to bear that will finally crush the nation. To cióse the celebration (?) of the Great Patriot s 138th birthday, Mr. Horne gave a ball at night, which was verv poorly attended, On Tuesday morning two private individuals, "with some of the old genuine article of the .patriotism of :7b in their veins—both Demo- crats—ran up the onCe unsullied Stars and -Stripes; which, refusing to “proudly w are,*' •drooped and furled themselves about the flag- -staffs, reserving, like latter-day patriots, “their enthusiastic fluttering» fi»r the atmiver- ;»urv of the Etn incipatio i Proclamation, or -adoption of the Fifteenth Amendment, which wire so entirely eclipsing the old National Holi afavs of tin* Fourth of -July, and the lwenty Second of February. f CITY DRUG STORE, JACKSONVILLE.
