be enacted into law during the coming
session, thus adding prompt perform
mice to the promise of the Republican
national platform relative to this form
of strengthening our national system of
finance.
The bill reported provides for the
establishment of postal savings deposl
furies for depositing savings at interest
with the seciirily of the Government
for the repayment thereof and desig
nates the money-order post-offices and
sm h others ns the Postmaster General

may. In his discretion, from time to
time designate as savings depositories
to receive deposits from the public mid
to account anil dispose of the same ac
cording to the terms of tile act.
The depositories are to lie kept ojien
for the transaction of business every
diiy, Sundays mid legnl holidays ex
e; cd. during the usual post-otliee
I siness hours of the town and locali
ties where the respective depositories
are located, and during sm-h additional
hours us the Postmaster-General may
designate.

entry of all deposits shall b<* made.
One dollar or a larger amount in
multiples ef lp cents will be necessary
to open an account, but deposits of 10
cents «»r multipies thereof will be re
ceived after an account is opened.
Upon receiving a deposit the post
master is required to enter the same
in I lie pass book of the depositor and
mmedfately notify the Postmastsr Gen
eral of the amount of tile deposit and
the mime of the «lepesitor. The Post
master General, upon receipt of such
notice, is required to send mi acknowl
edgment thereof to the ilepositor, which

elusive evidence of the making of such
deposit.
