0. F. Allen, well known in and around Bandon was shot and instantly killed by night watchman Wm. D. Clarke, last Tuesday
night at midnight.
Alleu was looking for Ed Gallier with a revolver and after shooting through the hotel window, aimed his
gun at the watchman who shot twioe, hitting him once, the bullet passing through his heart.
Coroner Dr. E. Mingus and
Sheriff Gage were summoned. The coroner’s jury brought in the verdict that the watchman was not guilty,
he shot Allen in performing his duty. The relatives of Allen were notified and the Masons took charge of the
body which will be shipped to his home in San Francisco.
