Ttì Protect Frogs. The masquerade ball given by our soldier veterans at Bauk Hall last Saturday evening was an event to be remembered in the social history of Bandon. Particularly is this true be cause of the mouster attendance, for, while a rousing su'?c««ss financially, tber«« were a few shortcomings in the general details that will be noted and corrected next year. By this we es pecially refer to lb«« failure to take the names and identity of Costumes at 'he door, aud to a better manner of distributing the prizes according to rotation. But we are not going to say lliHl the affair was not a monumental BIIC- cess in the strictest sense, and tllHl the soldiers did their best to provide all with an excellent time. People came from all points <>u the river, and the town was crowded, the ball pack e«l. About 180 tickets were sold snd there were near 170 maskers, many grotesque make ups and sevejal quit«« pretty. The floor was under the al>l« charge of James T Mars ami James K Scott, snd a committee consisting of Mrs Captain C P Jensen, Joseph McKenna and Steve W Scotton de cided lie« prize-winners of the even ing. The two first prizes were se cured by Miss Maud Garfield ami H C Culver, respectively. The music furnished by the Seaside Orchestra, nndi'i the leadership of Prof Kaus rod, was as usual par exc. Hence. Sixteen prizes were generously do naled by our business men, a list of which, with the donors, will be pub lislied next week.
