Ä s =1 BANDON RECORDER. FACTS IN FEW LINES ’ — Among the novel enlertaiumeiits given recently for a« eel charity’s sake was a grape festival given by some of the prominent ladies of San Rafael for the beuetit of the Presbyterian Or phanage at San Anselmo. It was a day for the little folk», and hundreds were present to enjoy the day and carry the memory of it away as a day well spent A unique programme ha>l lieeu prepared, one of the features be ing a tug-of-war lietween two teams of the tiny little tots of the nursery of the orphanage. They hauled and pulled with a vim, and seemed to enjoy it as much as the spectators. There were automobile rides and the delight of riding on real, live (sinies, and there were grab-tags, home-made candy and toothsome golden-brown ginger bread, and delicious mince pies linked in a huge brick oven Imill on the grounds for this occasion. The older |>eople were not forgotten, either, for there were lusciou» autumnal fruits and beautiful flowers, exquisite fancy work, lioth useful ami ornamental, and a de licious lunch served. All told, a neat little sum was netted for the worthy cause the gra|>e festival was given. WOMAN AND 1 ASHION WASHINGTON LETTER A l.ra.efal l>«-.l»s.
