Charles H. Cline, of Alta, Iowa,
who served in the Boer army and was
captured and furnished transporta
tion home, says that to his personal
knowledge there are 16,000 well aimed
well equipped men in the Boer army
who wiil never lay down their arms
until they secure independence for
their people, Ho says that war will
continue over there for the □ext
hundred years unless the Boers are
given their freedom.
One of the weatlhiest states in the
Union is Ohio. It is well situated for
commerce, has fertile soil and abounds
in natural wealth, and in manu
factories. Yet, with all its manufac
tories and natural wealth, poverty
must hold high carnival even in Ohio,
as State Commissioner L. D. Bone
brake, of that commonwealth, made
a statement before the county insti
tute, at Painesville, that it cost Ohio
nns more per capita to care for the
paupers of the state than to maintain
the public schools.

merits anything but censure which
makes it necessary that little boys

leavings of a days trade? Each man
because, without volition, he has been
born into the world, has a right to
bis daily bread—has a right to it
without the humiliation of taking it
as charity from any one. All over
the world Christians pray each night r
