A ugusta , Ga., June 26.—An ex
periment iu cremation by means of
liquid air is to be made before the
Funeral Directors and Embalmers’
association of Georgia iu annual con
vention here. The ccmventiou opened
this morning with members present
from all parts of the stute. The
liquid air experiment will be conduct
ed by Professor Barnes of Chicago
and the result is awaited with much
interest.

R oseburg , June 26.—Information
was received here yesterday of two
serious accidents which occurred in
the vicinity of Olalla Saturday. A. E.
McCulloch, a rancher, while raking
hay, was thrown in front of the iHke
and rolled or dragged under the itu
plement for a long distance by the
frightened horse, which finally ran
away. Mr. McCulloch was severely
bruised and cut. and his condition is
said to be serious.
On the s;,me day. Mrs. Fred Van
dever was thrown from a horse she
was riding and narrowly escaped
death. The horse ran after throwing
her, but her-.foot remained fast in the
stiirup while she was carried around
a narrow ledge over a steep, rocky
precipice. In its wild efforts tu free
itself from tho rider the horse began
kicking and struck the woman’s shoe,
teating it off, and this released Mrs.
Vandever, who was picked up nit-
concions and found to have sustained
severe injuries about the back. She
will probably recover,howevef.

desiring thunderstorms to cool the
