The Natural Resources Department in partnership with the Cultural Resources Department, cordially invites you to join us in celebration of fishing at Chankawan Conservation Area. This site sits on just over 425 acres along the North Santiam River with 1.5-mile river frontage presenting an additional opportunity for Ceremonial Fishing. This event will celebrate Grand Ronde’s perseverance in fishing notwithstanding the challenging PGE Willamette Falls legal battle. The picnic and fishing site is a short one-mile country walk. The primitive gravel/dirt road lends itself to a leisurely walk. Please arrive early. Safety is of the upmost importance. To support attendance, shuttle service will be available from the designated parking area at Chankawan to the trail. Bring your picnic blanket, lunch, and come celebrate with us. Restroom facilities and bottled water will be available. FISHING CHANKAWAN 2025: A CELEBRATION OF PERSEVERANCE on constitutional amendments. It passed with a 5-2 vote. All ballots must be received at the Grand Ronde Post Office by 4:30 p.m. election day. Results will be posted the same day at the Tribal Community Center, Tribal Governance Center and the BIA Northwest Regional Office, 911 NE 11th Ave., Portland. The Tribe’s Election Board will hold office hours to answer ques- tions from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday and Wednesday through the end of June. The last time the question of removing the federal government from the amendment process was put before Tribal voters was March 2015.
