Tuesday, Jan. 21 • Emotionally disturbed person reported in the 27100 block of Salmon River Highway. A family member was located and they left with the subject. • Emotionally disturbed person reported in the 27100 block of Salmon River Highway. A female subject was transported to a local hospital. • Assist outside agency in locating two suspects of criminal mis- chief in the McMinnville area. The suspects were located and transported to the Yamhill County Jail in McMinnville. Wednesday, Jan. 22 • Animal neglect reported in the 9600 block of Tilixam Circle. Thursday, Jan. 23 • Assist outside agency with a domestic disturbance in the Sheri- dan area. • Assist outside agency with a hit-and-run in the area of milepost 29 on Highway 18. It was determined there was a single vehicle crash. • Suspicious vehicle reported in the area of Firehall Road and High- way 18. • Citizen contact occurred in the 8400 block of Grand Ronde Road. • Reported theft in the 27100 block of Salmon River Highway. • Suspicious activity reported in the area of Big Buck campground. The subject and vehicle were not located. • Suspicious vehicle reported in the area of milepost 24 on Hebo Road. WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Department of Agriculture is seeking applications for its 2020 Tribal Scholars scholarship program. The program was established in 2008 and provides full tuition, fees, books and workforce training to students pursuing degrees in agriculture, food, natural resources sciences and related academic disciplines. When a student has completed the academic and summer work requirements for the scholarship, the department may convert the student to a permanent employee without further competition. The program is available to high school seniors entering their freshman year of college and current freshmen, sophomores or juniors. General re- quirements include a GPA of 3.0 or higher and acceptance to or currently attending a Tribal college or university. The scholarship is renewable each year and contingent on satisfactory academic performance and progress toward an associate or bachelor’s degree. Application materials must be postmarked by Feb. 9. For more infor- mation, send an e-mail to 1994@usda.gov. Veterans Royalty Veterans Royalty work with the Veterans Special Event Board (Veterans SEB). They attend powwows, parades, fundraisers, meetings and other events with the Veterans SEB and the Honor Guard. They interact with and repre- sent all veterans. They also work with the Grand Ronde Royalty during events and activities such as Restoration, parades and fundraisers. The Veterans Royalty should know what a veteran is and the different military branches. When Veterans Royalty attend events, they are expected to stay for the duration of the event. This includes helping to set up events, meetings and parades and dancing during Grand Entry, InterTribals and staying until the flags are retired. Veterans Royalty should have their own regalia and be willing and able to dance. GRAND RONDE VETERANS ROYALTY Participating in Veterans Royalty is an excellent opportunity for Tribal youth to learn our traditions , powwow protocol and work with veterans. Participants represent the veterans and the Tribe by attending powwows and various community events. We encourage all Tribal youth to join. Warriors — 8-18 years of age Junior Veterans Queen — 11-13 years of age Senior Veterans Queen — 14-18 years of age General Requirements: 1. Enrolled Grand Ronde Tribal member 2. Must be alcohol and drug free 3. Never married, no children 4. Attend school regularly and be in good standing 5.
