2 S moke S ignals JUNE 1, 2018 Tribal Council Nominations 11 a.m. Sunday, June 24 Tribal Community Center NOTICE — Monthly Tribal Council Wednesday Meetings DATE TIME Wednesday, June 6.............................................................................5 p.m. Wednesday, June 20...........................................................................5 p.m. Please note that these times and dates are subject to change if needed. 2018 Community Input Meeting The Grand Ronde Tribe’s annual Community Input meeting on pro- grams and projects will be held at the Tribal gym on Wednesday, June 13, starting with dinner at 5:30 p.m. After a brief introduction, the meeting mostly involves visiting open house tables with their posters and photos on programs and projects and providing your comments. Open house tables will include Health & Wellness, Education, Cultural Resources, Housing, Social Services, Police and several other departments and tables on the community development, transportation and transit plans. The meeting will end with door prizes, including a Pendleton blanket. This meeting is offered as an opportunity for members to provide com- ments and suggestions that will help guide Tribal programs and grant applications (i.e. ANA, ICDBG, CCDF, Head Start, CSBG and others). Aug. 15 Lamprey harvesting season opens June 1 OREGON CITY — The Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife has set lamprey harvesting season at Willamette Falls to run from June 1 through July 31. Harvesting times are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through Monday. Harvest- ing is not allowed Tuesday through Thursday. Harvesting is limited to the east side of Willamette Falls and does not include the horseshoe area at the peak of the falls. Gear is restricted to hand or hand-powered tools only. A permit is required, and Tribal members are allowed to use their Tribal enrollment card in lieu of a state-issued permit. In addition, Tribal members can harvest for distribution to other Tribal members as long as it is without charge. Catches must be recorded with an ODFW harvest card available from the Tribal Natural Resources Department or by contacting the Clackamas ODFW office, 17330 S.E. Evelyn St. Harvest cards must be returned by Aug. 31. If you plan to harvest lamprey, stop by the Natural Resources Depart- ment, 47010 S.W. Hebo Road, to pick up an information packet. This is a first-come, first-served program and income criteria applies. The program is federally funded through the Department of Health and Human Services and is designed to help low-income households with home heating costs.
