16 S moke S ignals AUGUST 1, 2016 Tribal Talent Night The Red Shawl Project In honor of survivors of trauma and violence the Domestic and Sexual Violence Prevention Program is looking for 10 Elders and 10 youth to join us in this project. We will be offering a series of workshop days where we will provide the individuals with the free materials to make shawls for the program and one to take home. About 60 people attended this first-time event that was organized by Tribal Elder Brent Merrill and Education Department Manager Leslie Riggs. In addition to Bruckner, Aaron Merrill performed as did Riggs with his group Bizarre Gardening Accident. Youth Prevention provided dinner and another talent night is expected to take place in September. Empowerment Outreach is seeking camping equipment, bedding, sleeping bags (broken zipper ok) for homeless families. A Cause for Paws is seeking pet food, toys, and beds. We will take books for our lending library. Clean out your food pantry, we’ll figure out the expiration dates! If you are not sure, bring it or give us a call.
