There will be a 1-mile walk, 5K walk and family fun activities in the field across from the Governance Center in Grand Ronde. Walks will start at 10 a.m. and field activities at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon. “Please join us for a family fun day of good nutrition and outside activities,” said Nutrition Program Manager Kristy DeLoe. Yoncalla Creek Road closed Starting on Monday, April 11, Yoncalla Creek Road was completed closed on the Reservation as contractors started to finish the work began in 2015. The contractor ground the pavement and will add new pavement the week of April 18-22. Public Works Coordinator John Mercier said there will be a high volume of double-trailered rock and pavement trucks using Agency Creek Road during construction and urged people to be safe. “Thank you to everyone traveling in that area for their patience, un- derstanding and cooperation as we create these access inconveniences,” Mercier said. Clothes Closet open Monday, Friday The Clothes Closet is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday and Friday on the Tribal campus near the Elders Activity Center at the end of Blacktail Drive. It accepts clothes, small appliances, small pieces of furniture, elec- tronics and household goods that are clean and in good condition. It does not accept books, large TVs or large furniture, but there is a community board where people can post those items. Donations are accepted during regular business hours. LIHEAP program gets more funding The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, which helps pay heating bills, has received additional federal funding. The program is open to Tribal members who have not received LIHEAP assistance as of Oct. 1, 2015, through April 1, 2016. LIHEAP is a first-come, first-served program and income criteria applies.
