Tribal member receives three scholarships Tribal member Sonja Haskins-Mack is the recipient of three schol- arships for the 2015-16 academic year. She received a $2,500 scholarship from the Oregon Offi ce of Student Access and Completion’s Rube and Minah Leslie Oregon Scholarship Fund, $4,000 from the Gray Community College Scholarship Fund and $2,000 from the Otilia Morales Chemeketa Foundation’s Gretchen Schuette Scholarship. Haskins-Mack is a student at Chemeketa Community College study- ing to obtain an associate degree in social service. She is scheduled to graduate this spring. n GRAND RONDE ROYALTY COURT Susie Shaw Participating in Royalty is an excellent opportunity for Tribal youth to learn our traditions, powwow protocol, and public speaking. Participants represent the Tribe by attending various community events and powwows where we also work with the Veterans Special Event Board (Veterans SEB) Royalty participants. Serving on Royalty requires a considerable commitment from the participant and their parents and/or sponsor. Royalty participants (including parent or sponsor) must attend all required events and activities: organizational meetings, powwows, parades, fundrais- ers, and more.
