S moke S ignals JULY 1, 2015 Construction workers needed The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Tribal Employment Rights Office (TERO) is seeking construction workers who are CTGR Tribal members and enrolled members of federally recognized Indian Tribes to participate in a workforce that is being prepared for deployment on con- struction projects. Projects are located on the Grand Ronde Reservation and on ODOT projects in various locations in northwestern Oregon. TERO is looking for workers in the following job classifications: • Carpenter • Laborer • Equipment operator • Cement masons • Truck driver • Electricians • Ironworkers • Loggers • Painters • Asphalt workers In addition, TERO is also seeking experienced Native American highway traffic control flaggers for assignments to projects. A limited amount of training positions in construction trades are available to candidates who meet apprenticeship requirements. Kenneth Robert Husak April 29, 1951 – May 30, 2015 Tribal Elder Ken Robert Husak was born and raised in Roseburg, Ore. He was an Elder in the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Indian Tribe. He also was an Air Force veteran. Ken graduated from Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College with a degree in theology. He went into law en- forcement and retired from the Mult- nomah County Sheriff’s Department in Portland, Ore. His love and enjoyment came from his family, God, Indian heritage and the wonders of nature. He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Ginger) Leffall-Husak; his daughter, Shandra and son-in-law Ryan Sullivan, grandson, Hamil- ton; son, Dallas Husak and daughter-in-law Tina; his stepdaughter, Leniece Leffall; father, Frank Husak; brother, Steve Husak and sis- ter-in-law Deon, and brother David Husak and sister-in-law Karen. There will be a private interment at Memorial Gardens in Rose- burg on Friday, July 10, and a Celebration of Life on Saturday, July 11, in Gresham, Ore. The family asks that all donations or contributions be sent to the Diabetes Foundation or the Grand Ronde Tribe in his name. The rare hand earned her $17,500 and entry into a $250,000 Shuffle Master Classic Three Card Poker Tournament at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, Nev. The lucky winner also received a $1,000 voucher to cover her hotel and travel expenses and she will play in the national championship event on Sept. 28. The top seven players will share a prize pool of $250,000. This is the second royal flush to hit on Let It Ride at Spirit Mountain Ca- sino since April 26.
