Gleason-Shepek joined area stakeholders and Congressman Earl Blumenauer for the first planning meeting on Friday, Jan. 16. The group discussed the opening of the new Orange light rail line to Portland's east side and the special events surrounding the Sept. 12 opening festivities for Tilikum Crossing, which will include a Grand Ronde Tribal village. “Our Tribal historians will share our story, children can participate in hands-on Tribal arts and crafts, taking home a special creation to remember this special day and someday share the story of Tilikum Crossing, the People’s Bridge, and the Grand Ronde people with their children and grandchildren. Together we will celebrate, together we will honor our ancestors and together we will be Tilikum,” Gleason-Shepek said.
