Classes will be scheduled for specific projects, such as making a basket, beading a medallion, making a shawl, gathering, a specific topic in Chinuk Wawa, making a medicine bag, etc. In lieu of weekly/bi-monthly classes, sessions will vary by subject/project throughout the year with details provided here in the Land and Culture Corner. We hope that this variety supports Tribal Member participation and offers helpful instruction. The Tribe is seeking a new location for our classes in Eugene with parking closer to the building and a lower rental fee. If you know of any possible locations, please contact Flicka Lucero at 503-879-2268. Chinuk Wawa Application Last year, the Tribe launched its very own Chinuk Wawa language application for Apple users (iPhones and iPads). Which can be downloaded for free on iTunes by searching for “chinuk wawa” or “Grand Ronde”, or by scanning the code at the bottom of these announcements. The Land and Culture Department is working on an Android compatible version which is scheduled to be released this spring. Chinuk Wawa Learning Stations There is a Chinuk Wawa Learning Station at Chachalu featuring iPads with the Tribe’s language application. Additionally, plans are underway to install a station at the Portland Office for Tribal Members to learn Chinuk Wawa. We hope to have that available there soon.
