Tribal Food Summit to
be held in Portland
A Tribal Food Summit will be held Wednesday and Thursday,
Jan. 8-9, to bring together Native local food gatherers, producers,
manufacturers and growers.
The summit will be held at the Doubletree Hotel, Lloyd Center,
1000 N.E. Multnomah St.
The educational event is dedicated to connecting emerging youth
leaders with Tribal Elders. There will be a number of keynote speak
ers who will discuss the history of Native foods, legal issues and
options, and future solutions, including next steps toward realizing
the summit's motto of "Protect, Respect, Restore."

Cover Oregon assister to visit Portland office
A Cover Oregon certified application assister will visit the Portland
satellite office, 4445 S.W. Barbur Blvd., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday,
Dec. 4 and 18, as well as Wednesday, Jan. 8 and 22.

St. Michael's offers weekly brunch
St. Michael's Catholic Church offers an open house brunch every Sunday
following Mass. The brunch is free to the community.
Brunch begins at about 11:30 a.m. following the 10:30 a.m. Mass. Mass
attendance is not required for brunch attendance.

The Facilities Department is asking for help identifying veteran's
plots. I
If your family member's or friend's plot is a veteran and we do not
have a veteran's flag present on holidays, please inform us.

Correction Due to a last-minute editing change, the last line in the
"Important Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde dates" list that ran in the
30th Annual Restoration Celebration issue was dropped. It should have
read: "Nov. 22-23, 2013: The Tribe celebrates 30 years of Restoration."
Smoke Signals regrets the error.
Tribal offices will be closing on Tuesday, Dec. 24, at noon and closed
on Wednesday, Dec. 25, in observance of Christmas. Offices also will
be closing on Tuesday, Dec. 31, at noon and closed on Wednesday,
Jan. 1, 2014, in observance of New Year's Day.
