This realization highlighted the need for youth pow-wows. I 1 t The Cultural Education and Outreach Program of the Land and Culture Department, along with the Education Department and Youth Prevention Program, have been working together to create and sustain these Invaluable events. This year, there have been five youth pow-wows and, due to their success, they will continue to be monthly community events. Between youth, parents and other adults, attendance has been between 100 and 150 people at each of the pow-wows. While all youth are encouraged to participate, adults are welcome as well, whether as drummers, singers, or support. It is the goal of the youth pow-wows for all youth to gain comfort and confidence in pow-wow dancing, etiquette and protocol. Youth pow-wows generally take place the first or last week of the month at 6:00 pm in the gymnasium following dinner at 5:30 pm.
