Donated meat had to be processed through a USDA-approved game or meat processor. 1998 The Tribe officially went online with the www.grandronde. org Web site. The new site provided links to Spirit Mountain Casino and all Tribal programs, including a Tribal member business direc tory that listed 59 Tribal member businesses. 1993 - Publications does not have a copy of the October 1993 Smoke Signals. 1988 - Grand Ronde Tribal Elders, Royalty, Tribal Council mem bers and community members gathered for a tree planting ceremony to recognize National Indian Youth Heritage Day at Grand Ronde Elementary School. Tribal Elder and former grade school teacher Eula Petite dedicated the tree in Chinuk Wawa. Yesteryears is a look back at Tribal history in five-year in crements through the pages of Smoke Signals. St. Michael's offers weekly brunch St. Michael's Catholic Church offers an open house brunch every Sunday following Mass that is free to the community. Brunch begins at about 11:30 a.m. following the 10:30 a.m. Mass. Mass attendance is not required for brunch attendance. For more information, contact Janelle Justen at 503-550-0923. D VoOiomtteeirs wanted The Tina Miller Community Center Thrift Store, 110 B. St., Willamina, helps fund the after-school and weekend youth community center located in the old Willamina High School gym. The thrift store is seeking volunteers who can help run the store, in ad dition to donated items and customers. The store accepts clothes, books, knickknacks, etc., as donations. It is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and closed Sunday and Monday. Donations also can be left at the Wildwood Hotel and Restaurant in Willamina. For more information on volunteering, call 503-876-7897. The youth center and thrift store are nonprofit and 100 percent self sustaining and volunteer-run. Costume Bowling set for Oct. 25 The annual K-12 Costume Bowling and Trick-or-Treat event will be held on Friday, Oct. 25. A bus will leave Grand Ronde at 9:30 a.m. for Walnut City Lanes in McMinnville. Bowling will last until 12:30 p.m. After returning to Grand Ronde, trick-or-treating will occur on the Tribal campus from 1:30 to 3 p.m. followed by a Halloween Party from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Families are welcome. Notice to Tribal member construction, contractors and workers The Tribe is developing a list of Tribal member-owned construc tion companies and workers with road construction experience who are interested in performing construction work for the Tribe and on Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) projects. The Tribe is negotiating a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with ODOT to provide hiring preference to Tribal members, those with construction companies and individuals with construction ex perience to work on various ODOT road construction projects. Tribal members seeking employment in the construction field should contact Steve O'Harra by calling 503-879-2113 or via e-mail steve.oharragrandronde.org. Please provide your name, enrollment number, phone number, type of work sought (unskilled laborer, concrete, paving, etc.) and any special skills or experience you may have. The Human Resources Department will assemble a list of interested persons that will be distributed to ODOT. This list also will be distrib uted to general contractors selected to do work on Tribal projects.
