10 OCTOBER 1,2013 Smoke Signals Dmppmj a Donne SttotrytelDfiLTig FesttovaD sett ffor Oct. 1 8-20 The eighth annual Northwest Indian Storytelling Festival will be held from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 18-19, and at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, at the Native American Youth and Family Center, 5135 N.E. Columbia Blvd., Portland. Ticket prices range from $5 to $20. A two-day Emerging Tribal Storytellers Workshop will be held on Sat urday and Sunday, culminating with an Emerging Storytellers matinee at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Enrolled Tribal members and self-identified Native American and Alaska Natives are welcome to join the Northwest Indian Storytellers Association and register for the workshop. Committee seeks Elders' phone numbers The Tribal Elders Committee is compiling a volunteer phone list of Elders. ENROLLMENT ORDINANCE OPEN FOR COMMENT The Tribal Council, in consultation with the Tribal Attorney's Office, adopted, on an emergency basis, proposed amendments to the Enrollment Ordinance at the Aug. 28, 2013, Tribal Council meeting. The primary purpose of the amendments is to expedite the pro cessing of enrollment applications when applicants are determined to be eligible for enrollment. Specifically, portions for Section (d) are amended as follows: i Section (d)(4)(B): "If the Committee finds that an application is ' complete and the applicant appears to meet the requirements of this Ordinance, the Enrollment Staff shall prepare a written state ment within sixty (60) days for the Council. The staff shall mail notice to the applicant of when the application will be considered by the Council." Section (d)(4)(E): "If the Committee recommends that an applica tion be approved the Council shall act on the Committee's recom mendation at its next regular meeting following the expiration of thirty (30) days of receipt of the recommendation." " 30, 2013. a Request for Proposals ArchitecturalEngineering Services The Grand Ronde Tribal Housing Authority CMI North Apartment Complex Phase 1 The Grand Ronde Tribal Housing Authority wishes to retain an ArchitecturalEngineering Team to perform planning and design services to expand family housing to include 28 one- and two-bedroom apartments. Conceptual plans show the apartment complex would consist of 28 units contained in seven four-plex buildings and would also include a residentrecreational center building.
