courtship of his wife. Hose,
who is n member of the Shoshone Tribe.
2003 - Luhui Whitebear joined the Tribe as the new scholarship
coordinator for the Kducation Department. Originally from Santa
Barbara, Calif., she is a member of the coastal band of Chumash
Indians.
1998 - The Tribe's entry in the Hose Festival Grand Floral Parade
received the grand prize for best float over 35 feet long. It featured a
story teller bedecked for a powwow in Northwest regalia and crowned
with a headpiece epitomizing the cunning wisdom of Coyote.
1993 - Tribal Council adopted a Divorce Ordinance on June 16.

1988 - John and Kula Petite were featured for their 51st year of
togetherness. Eula said that their mutual respect for each other,
their sense of humor, similar interests and their religion kept them
together for more than half a century.

construction, contractors and workers
The Tribe is developing a list of Tribal member-owned construc
tion companies and workers with road construction experience who
are interested in performing construction work for the Tribe and on
Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) projects.
The Tribe is negotiating a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
with ODOT to provide hiring preference to Tribal members, those
with construction companies and individuals with construction
experience to work on various ODOT road construction projects.
Tribal members seeking employment in the construction field
should contact Steve O'Harra by calling 503-879-2113 or via e-mail
steve.oharragrandronde.org.
Please provide your name, enrollment number, phone number,
type of work sought (unskilled laborer, concrete, paving, etc.) and
any special skills or experience you may have.
The Human Resources Department will assemble a list of inter
ested persons that will be distributed to ODOT. This list also will
be distributed to general contractors selected to do work on Tribal
projects.
Construction companies that are owned by Tribal members and
wish to be included on this list are requested to call John Mercier
at 503-879-2400 or via e-mail john.merciergrandronde.org.
